This significant event not only marks a celebration of freedom and equality, echoing the landmark moment in American history when enslaved individuals in the last holdout of the Confederacy were informed of their emancipation in 1865, but also symbolizes the Foundation’s commitment to fostering community engagement and progressive change. Visitors can expect to explore a rich array of programs, exhibitions, and events aimed at empowering individuals to become active participants in their communities, thereby continuing the legacy of former President Barack Obama in promoting unity, compassion, and social justice.
